As part of its beta programme, WhatsApp is frequently seen testing with new features, and most of the time these modifications are made official. The messaging app is currently testing a new design update that would aggregate users’ profile photographs.
Members’ DPs in WhatsApp Groups
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is experimenting with displaying participants’ profile images within groups on its desktop client. It started testing the same feature for its iOS beta version before beginning this. With this, a person’s DP will now appear in a message bubble alongside their name in a group chat.
Additionally, if there isn’t a DP, the profile image will be the same colour as the group member’s name. For a better understanding, you can view the screenshot that was used to demonstrate this below.

This will be similar to how WhatsApp started displaying a person’s DP in notifications so that users could quickly distinguish WhatsApp notifications from other notifications or even notifications from different persons. It’s unclear when users will see this little cosmetic adjustment because it’s still being developed. When it does, it should be accessible to users of Android, iOS, and the web.
WhatsApp is also going to include an image blurring function that would enable users to cover up critical information. Additionally, it is thinking about enabling the forwarding of images, videos, and more with a caption.
When these WhatsApp capabilities will be made available to the broader public is still to be determined. Once everything is official, we won’t forget to keep you informed. So, keep checking back for additional details.
